Lately Don and I have been enjoying smoothies for our morning meal.  I’ve come to discover the joy of mixing and blending.  One big discovery is to use water instead of juice.  A huge lightbulb went off in my head, with the help of a friend, when I realized with all the fruit I was using all I needed was some water to help bring it to liquid!  (I know some of you are laughing at this, but really it never occured to me before).   I also love to use all fresh fruit, and add in some ice to give it that cold thick texture.

I’m by far not a purest and love to mix things, try new things, and “break” rules.  So I do mix my fruits with my greens.  Parsley, kale, chard, spinach, spiraluna all dance in with fruit in my morning smoothies.  Add some ginger to it all for some kick and you have liquid ambrosia.

Yesterday’s smoothie was ice, papaya, banana, tangerine, ginger and spiraluna.  Mmmm, mmm, good!  Today?  Who knows what I’ll toss in the blender, we’ll see what is ripe and ready.
